STARSkate
STARSkate is a figure skating program designed for skaters looking to develop advanced skills in jumps, spins, and footwork. It offers a structured pathway with coaching, assessments, and competition opportunities, allowing skaters to progress through levels at their own pace.
STAR 1
This is the introductory level for figure skating. Skaters focus on mastering essential skills like forward and backward skating, gliding, stopping, and basic turns. Emphasis is placed on developing proper posture, edges, balance, and control on the ice.
STAR 2
At this level, skaters begin working on more advanced turns, including crossovers and simple jumps like the waltz jump. There is a continued focus on skating technique, with skaters learning how to apply edges and increase control in their movements.
STAR 3
Skaters at this level work on refining their skills, particularly in turns and edges. They begin learning more complex jumps, such as the Salchow, and incorporate basic spins. Basic footwork sequences and improved control are key focuses.
STAR 4
Star 4 introduces more advanced elements, such as the toe loop jump, improved spins (including the scratch spin), and more intricate footwork sequences. Skaters continue to develop strength, control, and technique, preparing for more complex routines.
STAR 5
At this level, skaters are expected to perform well-executed jumps and spins, including the loop jump, and demonstrate strong footwork sequences. Performance quality becomes more important, with skaters focusing on artistry, transitions, and flow within their routines.
STAR 6
Star 6 is a high-level stage where skaters perform advanced jumps like the Lutz and Axel, along with complex spins and footwork sequences. Emphasis is on refining all elements with technical precision, speed, and artistry, while preparing for competitive routines.
Disciplines
Our figure skating program offers a range of pathways to help you develop your full potential:
-
Skills: This foundational discipline focuses on assessments and allows skaters to explore turns, steps, field moves, and more. Skills are the building blocks for all other disciplines, providing the essential techniques needed for growth.
-
Singles (Freeskate): In singles skating, individual creativity takes center stage. Freeskate is the most recognized form of figure skating, where skaters showcase personal style, athleticism, and artistry on the ice.
-
Pairs: Two skaters combine their talents in pairs skating, performing stunning lifts, throws, and synchronized routines that highlight both technical skill and the beauty of collaboration.
-
Ice Dance: Ice dance is inspired by ballroom dancing, blending rhythm, athleticism, and elegance. Skaters express themselves through captivating performances set to music, bringing grace and athleticism together on the ice.
-
Synchronized: Synchronized skating (or “synchro”) is a team discipline where eight or more skaters move as one, executing fluid formations like circles, blocks, and intersections. Open to all ages and skill levels, synchro celebrates unity and teamwork, both on and off the ice.
-
Artistic: In the artistic discipline, skaters have the opportunity to express their creativity through movement, projection, and musicality, showcasing their personal artistry and interpretation of the music.
